FAQs
-
There’s no fixed number of consultations, as everyone’s journey is unique and shaped by their circumstances. Together, we’ll find an approach that feels right for you. For some, a single appointment may be enough, while others may choose several sessions to explore and address the different factors affecting their health.
-
Although you may self-refer and arrange an appointment directly, referrals are generally recommended through your GP or specialist. This ensures that your headache and migraine management is considered in the context of any other medical conditions or treatments, and allows your wider healthcare team to remain fully informed of the care and recommendations you receive.
-
If you are a medical professional wishing to refer a patient for specialised migraine and headache consultations, please contact Synapse Medical Group for details of our secure messaging system. This will allow you to send referral letters and the patient’s contact information safely and efficiently.
-
It’s natural to feel a little nervous before your first consultation, and when that happens, many people find they forget some of the questions or concerns they had hoped to raise when we meet. Preparing in advance can help you get the most from your appointment. To support you, we provide template diaries and documents, which you can find here.
Headache diary – Please record the frequency and severity of your headaches for at least one month before your appointment.
Medications (past and current) – List all medications you take for headaches or other conditions, whether prescribed or over the counter.
Impact on life – Note how your headaches and migraine affect your daily life and wellbeing. Consider what activities you are unable to do during an attack, or avoid because of the fear of one.
Concerns and questions – It is entirely natural to have worries or questions about your symptoms, possible long-term impacts, or medication. Writing these down beforehand ensures we can address what matters most to you.
