Dr Salwa Kamourieh is a Consultant Neurologist who specialises in the diagnosis and management of headaches, migraine and facial pain. She has supported many people, including those with complex or treatment-resistant conditions, in finding better ways to manage their symptoms and improve daily life.

Dr Kamourieh trained at Imperial College London and gained her MRCP in 2010. Since then, she has built wide-ranging experience in treating primary and refractory headache disorders such as chronic migraine, vestibular migraine, tension-type headaches, neuralgias and trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. She also has specialist expertise in advanced treatments, including neurostimulation for intractable headache and facial pain.

Her approach centres on listening closely to each person’s experience and working together to find the most suitable treatment plan. She cares for patients from the age of 16 and, when needed, brings in a wider support network — whether family, teachers, GPs or other specialists — to make sure care feels joined-up and supportive.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr Kamourieh is the Educational Officer for the British Association for the Study of Headache (BASH) and Deputy Director for Exams at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). She is passionate about advancing education and understanding of headache disorders, and has authored scientific papers and book chapters as well as presented at national conferences and teaching courses. Her current interests include the role of hormones in headache disorders, women’s health, menopause, nutrition and the management of complex pain.

Dr Kamourieh also works closely with colleagues across different specialities to ensure patients receive the most comprehensive care possible. Patients often describe her as approachable, down-to-earth and dedicated to helping them find a way forward with their condition.
